Sets and Scenery for "Big"

Art Club members will begin working on the musical backdrop October 26th. We will meet in the auditorium and begin to prime the backdrop white. Sketching of the backdrop will follow along with painting and some construction work. Check back for more details later.

Linoleum Prints and Pit Firing Starting Soon!

Painting students will be taking on the challenge of Linoleum prints.  They are studying various subject possibilities and design elements to featured in their own work.  As a follow up, they will be studying the Japanese Woodcuts.

3-D Design students have studied the processes of Maria Martinez and Blackware Pottery.  Next week, they'll be wedging up their clay and coiling their forms for a pit firing to be held this spring. 

Runs in the Family...

Another brother and sister team won Judge's Awards, Asher and Hannah.  Asher received recognition for two potter pieces and a charcoal study and Hannah for her two table designs and a pen and ink drawing.  (Photo will be coming soon)

Brother and Sister Take HOIAC Honors...


Trevor and Rachelle both received Judge's Awards at the Art Show held March 5th in Jefferson.  Trevor is shown with his work titled, "Blue Frog" and Rachelle is with her work titled, "Dance".

HOIAC ART SHOW-MARCH 5TH


The annual HOIAC art show was held this Thursday at the Greene County Recreation Center in Jefferson, Iowa.  Fifteen schools were represented in the show. The day began with the setting up of all the artwork and then a trip to Des Moines. The students and art teachers viewed art galleries in the Valley Junction area followed by a guided tour of the Des Moines Art Center. During the field trip, Maureen Seamonds and Rusty Farrington, art instructors from Iowa Central College.  Many pieces received recognition and a best of show was selected.  After the field trip, the students and teachers were able to view the exhibit and the judges talked about the work.  This year Ogden received 12 Judge's Awards.  Those earning awards:  Rachel Stephens/sculpture, Ashton Van Sickle/pottery & charcoal, Dusty Geigle/jewelry, Hannah Van Sickle/crafts & pen and ink, Trevor Stephen/watercolor, Rebecca Nation/printmaking, and Josh Peter/charcoal.  Over 50 works were entered and received HOIAC certificates.  Ogden students attending and helping with years set up included:  Joe Lucero, Kristina Rose, Alycia West and Hannah Van Sickle.
